Sheryl Cohen: Music

I Live In The Cracks

Sheryl Cohen

The cracks for me represent the space where artists live. It’s the sparkly, half dream
state felt upon waking, the moments where life is illuminated and everything, every
dream is possible.

I live for these moments, I Live In The Cracks.

Verse 1

I sit on my back porch and dream of the things

That I want for my life and myself.

If I could be free to be all of the things in my mind

I could be someone else.

If I had ways and means to take me forward

I’d gladly reach out for the help.

But gone are the things that once sheltered me

Alone I must fend for myself.

Alone I must fend for myself.

Chorus

You don’t know me or where I live

I LIVE IN THE CRACKS

Where dreams exist.

You don’t know me or where I live

I LIVE IN THE CRACKS

Where the dreams I dream exist.

I want to live.

Verse 2

Time passes by but I’m still standing still

I’ve got nothing to show for myself.

I’m feeling betrayed, optimism has faded

but I can’t admit that I’ve failed.

Last night I dreamed that I killed a man clean

Pushed his dead body down in a well.

What scared me the most was I had no remorse

Cause I wanted it all for myself,

Yeah, wanted it all for myself.

Chorus

Bridge

But I don’t know, what I can do

To make you see my life counts too.

I won’t go back to what we had

I’ve got to find myself, in the cracks
